Director of Christian Education
Director of Christian Education students at Concordia experience high quality academics that bring together faith and learning in a cutting-edge fashion. Students develop communication, writing, critical thinking and a variety of ministry skills.
Students have numerous opportunities to hone and apply these skills through involvement in Campus Ministry activities, Concordia's sponsorship of an annual DCE retreat, and ministry experience in local congregations and in the community. Concordia's metropolitan location provides DCE students access to many Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregations where they spend time observing and taking an active role in the ministry.
Concordia's DCE program is the only program within the LCMS to offer a fourth year internship experience. DCE students receive a year-long internship placement at congregations throughout the country. During their fifth year, students return to campus to synthesize their internship experience and focus on further education and career plans.
Students who typically find fulfillment in this area of study are relational and enjoy authentic communication. They also have a desire to work with and serve others through Christian ministry in ways that impact the community and the world.
