With several tracks available, the Director of Parish Music certification at Concordia allows students to pursue music ministry in the area that best suits their interests and talents.
Students benefit from one-on-one relationships with highly skilled faculty who are active professional performers, composers and leaders in their professional organizations. Private instrumental and vocal lessons are available from faculty.
Hundreds of performance opportunities are available each year, including weekly recitals, campus concerts, national and international tours, daily chapel services, services at area churches and other community functions. Students can also gain experience leading various styles of worship - traditional hymns, Morning Prayer, Eucharist, praise band-led services, Taizé contemplative acoustic services, ancient chant services, multimedia worship services and global music in worship.
Students can participate in instrumental groups including the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, String Ensemble, Handbell Ensemble, Musical Theatre Pit Orchestra, Christmas Concert Orchestra and Chapel Band. Students can also audition for Concordia's many vocal groups including the Christus Chorus, Jubilate, Opera Workshop, Shades of Harmony Multicultural Gospel Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
