Sociology

Concordia's Sociology program is grounded in the liberal arts and prepares students to be critical thinkers about the social world. Students studying Sociology benefit from one-on-one relationships with dedicated and accomplished faculty who bring unique insight and expertise to the classroom and ensure students develop core preparation in social theory, research methods and training in three key areas of sociology: classic sociology, the life course and applied sociology.

Sociology majors will study and learn in the midst of a diverse campus in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the nation. This offers students the opportunity to better understand and interact with people they will work with throughout their careers. Concordia?s convenient location also allows students access to a variety of internship opportunities where classroom knowledge can be applied to the rapidly changing and expanding field of sociology.

Students who typically find fulfillment in this area of study enjoy exploring other perspectives. They are interested in how people and groups interact and change over time and the ways that social class and ethnicity shape people's lives.
