The College of Business and Organizational Leadership honored five outstanding alumni with the inaugural Loma R.Meyer Award for Purposeful Leadership. The award recognizes contributions of alumni in their respective fields as ethical and visionary business leaders who represent the Concordia University mission.
BECKY CARLSON (BA ?93, MA ?03), vice president of GBS Customer and Field Solutions for Medtronic, has risen to a leadership position at Medtronic partly because her personal values align with the company?s. She has received Medtronic?s coveted Win Wallin Leadership Award and the company?s Star of Excellence Award, which also was twice awarded to her teams.
DAN FERRISE (BA ?98) is executive vice president of Frandsen Corporation, a billion dollar plastics manufacturer. He worked 17 years with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, the past six years as CEO of MINNCOR Industries, the manufacturing arm of the Department of Corrections. He transformed MINNCOR into a profitable enterprise with annual sales of nearly $40 million.
LOUIS S. JOHNSON (BA ?86) is vice president and wealth management consultant for the Private Client Group in the Personal Trust area of U.S. Bank and is an active volunteer. He has served as president of a nonprofit organization that works with at-risk youth, and is active in his church through music ministry and as the Men?s Ministry coordinator.
PAUL H. PERSEKE (BA ?88) is senior vice president for investment banking at Miller Johnson Steichen Kinnard, a full-service investment firm in Minneapolis,where he helps clients raise debt capital for a wide range of projects. He is on the Advancement Committee of Concordia?s Board of Regents and is a board member with Children?s Cancer Research Fund.
NICOLAS THOMLEY (BA ?04) is founder, president and CEO of Pinnacle Services and Summit Fiscal Agency, serving people with developmental disabilities, and CFO of Prospect Services, serving parents of children with mental health issues. In 2006, Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal named him to its prestigious ?Forty Under 40? list, recognizing the achievements of under-40 business professionals. He was named one of the ?30 Coolest Entrepreneurs Under 30? by Inc.Magazine.
